Attention readers!

Chat ’n Chew is a parent-led, voluntary reading program sponsored by the PTO. It’s offered to  all students in the 1st through 5th grade, once a month during weeks in February, March, and  April. Students are able to have discussions and activities about their books with friends over  their lunch hour!

Through generous funding of the PTO and our school library’s involvement, approximately 10 copies of each book will be available for check out from the school library on a first-come, first-served basis, or they may be borrowed from the Johnson County libraries. Electronic copies and paper/hardback copies can be purchased at various stores or at Amazon.com; most are now $6.99. Participation is free!

Students: When you sign up for Chat ’n Chew, you agree to:

  1. Read the selected book for the month
  2. Bring the book to school on the selected date for Chat ’n Chew
  3. Use the Sunrise Point virtues during your Chat ’n Chew time
  4. Have fun reading and discussing great books

Parents: When your child signs up for Chat ’n Chew, you agree to:

  1. Obtain all of the selected books in a timely manner
  2. Help your child read the book, if necessary.

Please Consider Helping! We need leaders to guide small groups of children during their  “chats” about the book. PTO will provide a program guide with detailed info, sample  discussion questions, and game and activity ideas. We are limiting Chat ’n Chew groups to  8-10 students per group, but we can have as many groups per grade level as parent volunteers  sign up. Please Consider helping out with this fun, meaningful program that PTO offers.

Registration is now CLOSED.
